Headed down to Ground Zero yesterday morning for the 10 year anniversary of 9/11.
I went last year as well and found it to be this amazing mish-mash of people and ideas everywhere... mourners who lost loved ones in the attack, truthers, conspiracy theorists, tea party loyalists, anti-muslim groups, religious groups from across the board, Jesus freaks in abundance, groups promoting tolerance, understanding and forgiveness...
you name it, they were there. This year was the same way, although there was a much heavier weight in the air with it being the decade anniversary, as well as the opening of the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero, so police presence was high and navigating the area could get a little tricky, especially during the ceremony, and particularly with my camera backpack on... no backpacks allowed near the WTC site! Regardless, I still made my way around and discovered a slew of individuals who certainly had a lot on their minds and wanted to be heard... and surprisingly, some people still all up in arms about last year's proposed Ground Zero Mosque controversy...
